Discussion cards – Smooth everyday life in early childhood education and care
Everyday life in early childhood education and care goes smoothly when the work, working environment and working conditions are developed together. A well-functioning work community and goal-oriented management of well-being at work are also key to managing the workload in early childhood education and care workplaces. Competence development and maintaining work ability are strongly linked to coping at work as well.
Feel free to choose your own way to use the cards according to the needs of your work community. Think about which of the themes is most relevant to you and start there. Alternatively, you could choose three themes for the discussion, all according to the needs of your work community.
There are five discussion cards in total. One card guides you to discuss one theme at a time. The themes are:
- A functioning work community is the starting point for smooth everyday life
- We promote well-being at work together
- Work hazards and the workload are managed together
- We maintain work ability
- We strengthen and share competence.
The cards have two sides, and you can print and fill them out by hand if you want to. You can also fill in the text fields of the PDF version using a computer.
On one side of the discussion card, there are three key questions about the theme and space for a question that is relevant to you in particular. There is space for agreements on good practices at the bottom of the page.
On the other side of the card, there are questions that dive deeper into the theme in order to lay the groundwork for the discussion. At the bottom of the page, there is space to write down matters that you have already agreed on before the discussion. There is also a link at the bottom to more information in the digital publication Smooth everyday life in early childhood education and care(you will be directed to another service).
It is a good idea to reserve enough time to discuss one theme so that each member of the work community can participate in the discussion of the matter and you also have time to agree on something.
It is possible to hand out the card you have chosen in advance to the participants. This will help them be better prepared for discussing the topic.
