The Centre for Occupational Safety

Can you work remotely or take a holiday trip during a sickness absence? Do you have to attend a work ability assessment and health checks?

The Centre for Occupational Safety’s service group, together with chief medical officers from EK and SAK, has produced a set of question-answer pairs relating to sickness absences and work ability management practices.

In order to prevent problems, it is essential for the workplace to foster an atmosphere of trust between the employer and employees. In addition, the workplace and occupational health care should jointly agree on and prepare a written description of practices for the management and monitoring of work ability and early support. The model is discussed in occupational safety and health cooperation. The management of sickness absences is an important part of this early support model.
